Curaleaf GGT Grapefruit Gift Medical Cannabis Strain review UK
I wasn't expecting this strain to be a new one on my rota, but sadly my go to was out of stock. Sometimes though things are meant to be...
"GGT" or Grapefruit Gift is aptly named with its pungent unique aroma, and the fantastic effects I have found from it for my condition. Not only that, but this is one of the most impressive looking strains in terms of nug formation, size and trim that i've seen from a new strain in a while. Though I haven't managed to do a microscope video yet, we have had a tonne of requests for this one so I wanted to get our main review out asap. Enjoy!

Curaleaf GGT Grapefruit Gift Medical Cannabis Strain Review UK
Introduction
Here we are with another medical cannabis review discussing one of newest strains from Curaleaf, GGT.
With 18% THC and a unique terpene profile this strain was a welcome surprise when I first opened a pack.
With very sizeable nugs, a dense formation and a cure that is a little on the dry side but not the worst. The vibrant greens and shimmering trichomes from the careful trim really help this strain shine. But the question is, does it work for my condition?
Jump into the review with me below where I break down the ins and outs from my experiences using this strain. As a heads up, I absolutely love this strain so far but there is one major drawback that honestly is a bit gutting for me. More will be explained below.
As always, if anyone has had this strain tested, or has sample COA that you think would be useful to attach here, please feel free to reach out and we’d be happy to showcase it here, along with any relevant reference back to you, and a cheeky gift card for our site as a thanks!
Main Review
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my review of the Curaleafs GGT Grapefruit Gift medical cannabis strain.
This was sourced legally via prescription to myself with chronic pain being the primary condition this is used for. I hope my feedback here is useful for you to make an informed choice on future prescriptions, or to avoid it depending on your needs. I always welcome feedback in terms of other specific points I could cover in these reviews. Please keep in mind that i'm not a medical professional and these are no more than my personal anecdotal experiences.
The way this strain is being discussed is with relation to a chronic pain prescription relating to nerve pain and severe headaches, though it has also proven helpful beyond these treatments.

Device/ Setup
Ok so we’ve taken your feedback onboard and updated some of the fields and points of interest in our reviews. I will now include the setup I have tested this strain with and preferences for it as a result.
I appreciate everyone will have different setups for different reasons. Personally convenience/ ease of use is a priority with peace of mind that things are backed up with a warranty. This has led me to investing on the higher end of things, however with that said, I have encountered multiple E04 errors with my Venty. So though I like the device and think it operates brilliantly, keep in mind that this error is still prevelant and may require a replacement from S&B if it happens to you. I'm on my third Venty at the moment!
Main device: Storz and Bickel Venty
Secondary Devices: Storz and Bickel Volcano Hybrid , Pax Plus & Dynvap M.
Outcome:
This strain grinds beautifully, but if you aren't carefull it will grind very fine. So depending on your preferences/ device, you have the variability here to dial it in to your preference. Having said that, if you're not careful you can over grind and in turn over fill with this strain before its moisture is balanced. It's caught me off guard once or twice.
Overall this vapes beautifully in my Venty and as such I haven't really tried it in other devices. As with all dry herb vaps the first few hits are where the terps are, and in this case it has a very strong and unique terpene profile that hits hard at first. I'll admit I didn't quite like it at first, but it has grown on me and become part of the charm of this strain. The best way I can describe it is a very bitter grapefruit with slight umami notes.
Initial observation upon opening (nug shape/ density/ cure and shake content):
Honesly no complaints here from opening this pack up. First smell was a little noted, but after a few minutes another sniff gave me a better impression of the strain.
Instantly the consistent large sized nugs stood out, and when picking them up how firm they were was also a surprise but in a good way. These batches were consistent in size for me and it grinds very well.
After a couple of days with the supplied humidity gave ths was improved even further.
There was next to no shake/ pop corn sized nugs in this batch, though no doubt some bags will contain these naturally. The trim on these has been done carefully by hand and it shows with very beautiful examples of flower to inspect.
The nugs were all well formed and bright green glistening with trichomes all over. Upon picking out a nug it was immediately clear this had a dense cure on the dryer sider, so a Boveda will help it out a little. What's great is that Curaleaf have now also started including humidity packs with some deliveries which means you can save a little!
Though it is slightly on the dry side,
overall my initial impressions were positive and only further improved in the coming days with some time to breathe in a glass UV storage jar at home.
Any improvement after storage change and curing?
My go to is to transfer my flower from the plastic tubs to UV protected glass storage (Whilst keeping original packs and labels on hand for verification and being out of the house!) in my opinion it just balances it out a little with the terps and helps any throat irritation that may occur. For me avoiding coughing is important so every little helps! What I will say though is that since starting these reviews, the moisture content and cure has slowly been improving as they come. So in some cases this hasn't always been neccesary.
This strain was really well cured for a radiated strain but a little dry on large dense nugs so it was improved with a Boveda Pack in there to help reintroduce some of the moisture in the cure. You can buy jars that include free Boveda HERE which will get you set up nicely.
Though it's worth noting any glass jar will do, though preferabbly one that blocks UV unless it's to be kept in a cupboard etc anyway! So no harm in using a cheap mason jar if you keep this in mind!
Though you can never bring back what has been lost I personally have seen a difference with this process after 2-3 days. With grapefruit gift the terps are there, but this brightened them a little meaning that the pungent umami/ grapefruit tone was balanced with a more rounded flavour for those first few hits.
Budget-Friendly Dry Herb Vaporizers Under £100: Top Picks for UK Vapers
Are you searching for the best cheap dry herb vaporizer in the UK? As a medical cannabis patient, I know how challenging it can be to find an affordable yet high-quality vaporizer. Everyone touts Tiny Mights and Mighty, but let's be honest, the prescription is expensive enough as it is and not everyone can afford to throw £300 at something like this.

Context: I’m prescribed for chronic nerve pain with severe headaches that is accompanied by nausea/ gastro issues at times. I work full time and have a young family. As such, I have to find the balance between managing pain/ symptoms, and being functional in my various responsibilities.
In turn, the split between a day time and night time strain gives me that ability to address deeper pains in the evenings where it may be more sedating, whilst using a more uplifting/ cerebral strain for day time to help get me through without any unwanted side effects. This has been key to me taking back my life and maintaining better quality of life all in.
With the above in mind, I have found GGT Grapefruit gift to be quite balanced. It's been a very good day time strain for curbing my deeper pains whilst remaining productive. However I have noted on a couple of occasions it leaning closer to the indica side if stronger doses are needed. This leaves it as a versatile strain for me when managed properly as it's a great backup in the evenings also. But as I say, it's worth noting as it can work against you despite the relatively low THC level.
5 Quick Bits about Curaleaf GGT Grapefruit Gift
Splitting the nug:
Often once trimmed, irradiated, and transported/ stored, the trichomes on the outside can become a little lack lustre. By pinching open a nug you can release a fresher terpene profile and observe the trichrome formation a bit better. So I try and take a photo of a freshly opened nug to display this and provide as much detail about a strain as possible for you guys. We have also recently invested in a new microscope to capture photos at this stage and explore the formation in a dramatically more detailled manner. We will add these for this strain at a later date.
As always, if you think of another metric/ approach that you would like us to take in these reviews, feel free to reach out and let us know!
Curaleafs Grapefruit Gift didn't suffer from a badly knocked around exterior but this kind of exploration is always interesting anyway. In this instance it did highlight one thing we are yet to come across during a review. A seed!
For me personally, I don't find seeds off putting, and in our exploration we only found two small seeds that were easily identifiable and removed. I appreciate some report headaches when accidentally vaping seeds, and have other concerns. But this in no way seemed to effect the quality of this flower for me, and with such as small amount you'll have no complaints from me.
In terms of the trichomes they were beautifully preserved on the outside, so as you can imagine openning it up only showed this beautifully grown strain off more.
The terpene profile pops a little when openning but despite the density the dryness does let it down slightly here. The most notable change from the Boveda was doin this again after a few days.
We will be releasing a video inspection of this strain to show it off. We will be returning to have an in depth look. So be sure to check out our youtube channel and stay tuned for an update there.
How Does It Grind?
These do need a Boveda to take the edge off the dryness but honeslty it's not the end of the world without. A half grind on the grinder will produce a light fluffy texture for those who like more airation during extraction, whilst an additional turn or two can produce a very fine result. In my opinion this is good as it allows you to really dial in your device/ vapour production. Though can make this 18% strain kick a little harder than expected when very fine.
Batch No
For reference we usually include a batch number. Some strains have varied over time, often for the better. So we figured it's best to have a reference point for when we reviewed this for context.
This was from batch: CURA00192636
It also had a reasonable shelf life date, giving it 2+ months to consume. Other than a couple of small seeds, we have no issues to note with this batch.
Throat issues/ catching/ allergies?:
In the past I have had hay fever like symptoms with a scratchy throat/ runny eyes and sneezing around loading my device or vaping certain strains. After a recent brain operation, avoiding coughing is a big priority for me to help reduce pressure. So I take note whether this is an issue on my reviews incase anyone else has the same problem!
For me this is a devastating downside for this strain as it's the first in a while to clearly lead to bouts of sneezing/ throat irritation. These symptoms are managed around typicaly anti allergy meds to a point, but depending on the time of day around taking those, I have had several bouts that have resulted in quite bad headaches for me.
Granted, not everyone had a brain op 10 months ago, so sneezing like this isn't a major problem for most, but it's worth noting. This in no way means that you'll have the same kind of reaction. Whether it's a specific terpene or perhaps some stray pollen (There were a couple of seeds afterall) these don't effect everyone.
Overall this strain is great, I really like how effective it is for me and despite the unique profile at first it's grown on me massively. Right now I can use this when managing my anti allergy meds, however with an upcoming brain operation, I will need to change it to reduce the chance of this happening when in recovery.
Gutted that this is the case though as it really is a great strain for me otherwise.
Side effects/ issues?
I haven’t observed any in particular other than the sneezing /allergies mentioned above. If you have any would like to add any info here to help others let us know!
This sits on the Indica side of the spectrum for me which alligns with how it has been classed. So if you require something in this spectrum, then this is a good option.
In terms of effects, as I mention above it can be used in lighter doses for productivity or stronger ones for a more indica leaning effect. So i'm finding this very versatile. Though would point out that those with a low tolerance may want to start coarse on the grind unless they've cured it more with a boveda first.
It works well to balance indicas sometimes using a CBD Oil in conjunction with my dry herb vape if I need to maintain clarity in the day.
Strain Profile: Curaleaf GGT Grapefruit Gift
Info from www.MedBud.wiki:
It's worth noting the THC content in MedBud wikis extract reflects other growing conditions for higher THC levels. Where as the Curaleaf offering is much lower than this*
"Bred by Allele Genetics.
This particular phenotype, selected by Allele Genetics, is more Grapefruit-leaning and expresses an extreme citrus rind terpene profile with subtle notes of earth, musk and diesel. Elevated terpenes include myrcene, caryophyllene, pinene and limonene. Grapefruit Gift produces potency of up to 25%+ THC and, under optimal conditions, can produce total THC levels close to 30%.
Grapefruit Gift is a uniquely flavourful cultivar with compact, dense and vibrant green flowers. Users can expect a sweet and tart flavour that is very similar to fresh grapefruit. The God's Gift parent passed on its short and stout structure to the Grapefruit Romulan, overall improving its structure and yield."
Consistency
I can't comment on consistency across batches yet as this was a replacement for another out of stock strain. However with the raise in questions about this strain we wanted to get our review up.
I'll circle back after another batch and see how it lines up in terms of cure, terpenes and bud array.
Other Strain Reviews
Aurora Sourdough
A unique aroma that pleases the senses and soothes my symptoms with ease. This 29% strain has been making waves as it's difficult for pharmacies to keep it in stock, and with good reason.
This potent strain is ideal for my afternoon and evening doses when my back starts getting sassy.

Curaleaf LA Kush Cake
LA Kush Cake was a stable for me for a while. It's a strong strain with excellent bud structure and typically consistent from batch to batch.
At 25% it sits as one of the stronger options, but can be used to balance symptoms in the day in light measures!

Wedding Pop Triangle (WPT)
I had no idea what to expect when this was added to my prescripton, but when I stuck my nose into the bag I was immediately transported back to Amsterdam in 2007. A familiar sour tone came flooding through backed up with some other familiar tones that I still cannot put my finger in. All in all I was really happy and the effects backed it up.
Sadly from batch to batch I haven't always had that same impactiful terpene profile, though effects have typically remained consistent. My recent two batches have been on point though!
Check it out under the microscope and my full review here!
Overall impression
I must say, I really like this strain. Sure it's a unique profile at first but the effects surpass that in every way. With a little cure and burping in a jar it's made a big difference and has even made the buds somewhat sticky when ripping open.
Yes I have had allergy issues either from specific terpenes or residual pollen, but ultimately if it wasn't for my current recovery etc this would be a non issue.
At a mid range price point i'm very happy with the quality of this strain and look forward to what's to come if new strains are beginning to come in at this standard.
I look forward to trying future batches and hopefully seeing other unique terpene profiles joining the ranks at curaleaf.
