Unfortunately we still live in age with a lot of discrimination against those who use cannabis, and such the noticable smell can result in unwarranted complaints and difficulties despite you being completely legal. So by using an effective air purifier you can quickly and efficiently reduce/ remove that smell whilst also keeping the air you breathe a little bit better at the same time.
Due to running a lab, we have had a lot of different air purifiers from small desktop solutions, to larger floor standing options and commercial solutions. So we've tested quite a few and thought we'd share our findings with you!

I'm going to try and keep it to the point, easy to follow and have direct links for those to check them out elsewhere. Though the smell of medical cannabis is greatly reduced due to being vaped rather than smoked. Air purifiers are a great way to remove the smell more efficiently, as well as removing some of the oils in the air, as well as dust and other allergens incase that helps.
The most expensive options aren't always the best in my experience, especially if you tend to vape in a relatively small room such as a bedroom or lounge.

I'm not here trying to get you scroll as far as you can and spend as much time on our website as possible. Here's my top pick off the bat straight up.
That isn't to say it's ideal for you, or that there aren't better options.
However for me, this is the perfect balance between function, efficiency, budget and sound level.
Introducing the Levoit Smart Air Purifier!
Much like anything else the budget for these things is a major sliding scale. In fact Levoit also have a sub £50 option themselves as well. Just as much as there are £500+ options out there that in my opion perform just as well as this one.
So let's start with why I chose this?
Although they also have a cheaper 'bedroom' option and I mainly vape in a bedroom sized room, this option means I can take it with me no matter the room size (Thinking Airbnb etc) so if I decide to move it in the house or whatever, then I can without a problem.
Secondly I chose this due to the app and auto functions. Auto means I don't have to turn it on each and everytime, whilst it also detects other particles like allergens, dust, polution etc. The app means I can change this where ever I am, and help me avoid bending over etc when i'm unable to due to my condtion when it flares up.
Beyond that, this device simply works (Touch wood!) i've not had any issues, and the filter life span seems to cope well with daily use.
Is it effective at removing odour?
Absolutely. When vaping cannabis the odour doesn't cling to things or hang around like smoking does. So it's much easier for these air purifiers to work completely effectively. This device has never let me down when clearing the smell of medical cannabis for me as long as I keep the door closed I just let it do it's thing.
How long does it take?
Nose blindness with cannabis is a real thing when you are the one vaping it. So it's hard to determine how effective these truly are solo. This is why my wife stepped up and helped see how effective it was are clearing the smell complete.
On auto/ silent mode, the room is typically clear within 30 minutes of a 0.2g dose on a Venty. This would be much quicker if I used the standard or 'High' setting.
How easy is it to run?
Though it has intuitive button controls on top, the app is the way to go. Once setup, it not only tells you how clean you air currently is, but it also enables you to quickly hit 'auto', quit the app and boom you are setup. If you want to use it manually via the app or buttons you can simply alter these at any time.

Noise levels
In order for an air purifier to work, it will make some sound. However this can vary greatly. Whats great about this air purifier for medical cannabis is that you can set it to 'silent' mode to reduce the sound so you can listen to things easily or simply have a quieter environment. The trade off with silent mode is that it runs slower so it takes longer to clear. However I have had it in auto/ silent for the whole time i've had it and it's never been an issue for me.

In summary:
The auto mode is brilliant as it has surprised me how quickly it picks things up and gets to work. It has even been triggered by me opening a glass UV storage jar with my flower in right next to it. Whether that was my stiring dust when I came into the room or the flower itself I don't know but it sure made me laugh.
I'm not going to drag the review on beyond this. Simply said, in my experience this has been a solid reliable air purifier for my medical cannabis. It clears the air in under half an hour on an energy efficient mode with a single dose, but can easily do this much faster if you don't mind the sound level (Which to be honest isn't even too bad when it's on high anyway).

It certainly is! I have tested this in both a professional and home enviroment and it has stood the test of time each time. Granted it wouldn't be the best choice for large areas but most homes would be perfect for this.

Smelly Proof Storage
It's not just about vaping the flower, but also storing and grinding it. Depending on how you store it the smell can still fill a room.
Yes i'm aware a lot of medical cannabis strains lack the punch you could expect elsewhere but even so there are many brands producing flower that can still easily stink a room out just by being ground.
So how can you minimise this?
Easy! Strategic routine, and or carbon lined lockable medical bags!
Let's jump into it!
The medical pouches medical cannabis come in often work well enough to reduce smell. So when i've finished using my grinder, I place it inside the bag the strain is in. This reduces moisture lost in the remaining flower in the grinder whilst also reducing odour.
Though the pouches do a good job at reducing the smell, they're not fool proof. Plus as you use them more, it's easy to get the oils and trichomes on the outside resulting in residual smell.
Solution? Easy! There are plenty of carbon lined medical bags you can use. The one I have also includes a lock to keep your medication safe. It's never let me down, fits in my bag easy and i've flown with it multiple times whilst bringing my medication with. Scented Support!
There are other routes to go to help neutralise or mask the odour. Obious solutions here are scented candles, sprays or plug in options.
These work to varying degrees. If you pop into B&M and grab a random room fragrance there's a good chance you'll just make the room smell snazzy and weedy at the same time.
If you're going the scented route rather than neutralising, it's about pairing profiles to match. Many cannabis strains have terpenes that match ones naturally found in these products such as pine, citrus etc.
There are some odour neutralising blocks such as ONA Gel that you can also use. Though this can be quite a strong smell in smaller spaces. So as a tip if you buy a block, cut pieces off and place them in something else smaller to use a small bit at a time. It lasts ages this way!

I'd assume these are irrelevant for most people, but as such a fun little device, how could they not get a mention. With many brands doing their own take on this, as well the timeless dryer sheet over a kitchen roll trick, there are many options to try!
The idea here is that you inhale your medication from your device, and then exhale through a device that removes the vapour/ scent via activated carbon or other means for ultra discrete smelly proof vaping.
I can't think of any reason a legal medical patient would be required to use these though, and ultimately there will still be a scent from the vapour that escapes the vape without going through the device.

I had no idea what to expect when this was added to my prescripton, but when I stuck my nose into the bag I was immediately transported back to Amsterdam in 2007. Over all investing in an air purifier has been a huge life upgrade for me. This goes beyond managing odours, but i've actually noticed a big change in the quality of the air in the house.
