The Venty dry herb vape is a product of Storz & Bickel, a renowned name in the vaping industry. Known for its high-end and medically certified vaporizers, the company has been at the forefront of innovation, ensuring users get the best vaping experience. So when they release a new vape and make the kinds of claims they have, you know it's time to pay attention. 

The Venty's price at almost £400 positions it in the realms of the Volcano their ever famous desktop device. However as a handheld/ portable device it's closest competitor in the line up is the Mighty Plus which can be picked up for around £310. As a Mighty user myself I got excited that this device may come in at a competitive price when it was first teased, so to say I was a little surprised when I saw the RRP was an understatement! 

However, as I have jumped into the ins and outs of it, there is more to this device than it first seems. Importantly it enables processes that will suit medical cannabis patients with more chronic conditions in a much better manner than the Mighty/ Crafty or Pax devices out there. 

Key features of the Venty

Swift Heating Time

The device takes a mere 20 seconds to heat up, making it the fastest device in the Storz & Bickel portfolio.

When at home the heat up time isn't neccesarily a big issue for vapes. It's comfortable enough to get ready and turn it on whilst you grab a drink or get yourself setup. However when you are traveling, or out and about at work etc this is a different story. Particularly this time of year when it's getting cold out there! 

I for one have issues with muscle pain in my back which gets exacerbated in the cold. So if having to venture outside to use my dry herb vaporiser then every second counts. This heat up time will shave a minute off of my current wait time in these situations, and for others like me i'm sure you agree this will be a god send!

Adjustable Airflow

The Venty is the first vaporiser of its kind to feature an adjustable airflow, with a maximum capacity of 20 litres/minute. For me, it can get a little much towards the end of a dosage at 210c, and unfortunately coughing can cause me some severe headaches. So being able to get this kind of control over airflow will be a huge difference for me personally. Here's a little more from Storz and Bickel themselves:

Precise Temp Control

The device allows for precise temperature adjustment from 40°C to 210°C making it ideal for all medical cannabis products. With the temp topping out at 210 it makes me wonder whether we can expect a medical version of this in the UK market with a VAT exemption for medical patients! I'll be sure to ask our contacts to see if there's any info on this coming.... 

USB-C Charging and Supercharge Function

The Venty supports USB-C charging, and with its Supercharge function, it can reach an 80% charge in just 40 minutes.

Not only this but it is powered with two high powered batteries which can get up to ten sessions out of a full charge!

Bluetooth Connectivity and Web App Control

Users can connect their devices via Bluetooth and control their Venty through a dedicated Web App.

This has a variety of pros and cons. It enables you to change the brightness of the screen, which is a great help for those who get glares off of their glasses in low light, or simply don't want to be a beacon of light when out and about. 

Furthermore, the precise control over your pre set temp stages is great! We all have our own traditions with stepping up temps, and now you can set them to be readily available at a touch of a button. The device comes with an integrated Boost & Superboost Temperature feature for added convenience!

Beyond this, those medical cannabis patients with visual impairments may be able to use their device on the web app/ mobile app with assistive technology to get better control and general access using their own specialist VI software. Great stuff in my opinion!

Combine this list of great features with the fact that the device is UL-certified and comes with a 2-year warranty, extendable to 3 years upon registration and you have a pretty rock solid device!  

4 Tips for dry herb vaporisers 

Regular Maintenance! 

Whether you have a Venty, Mighty, Pax or DynaVap, maintenance is essential to keep on top of the functionality and safety of your device. 

Making sure you have cleaned all of the excess oils and AVB using cleaning products like isopropyl alochol can prolong the life of your device, whilst also ensuring you're not inhaling any nasties along with your medication! 

Different Strains, Different Temps 

Most medical cannabis patients will use their dry herb vaporisers in increasing temps per dose. As an example you may start at 180C, then after a few minutes proceed to 195C before landing on 210C until all the vapour has gone. 

This is a pretty solid routine for most cases, however if you are looking into different strain profiles for their terpene profiles, you may want to experiment with a different starting temp to see how it reacts. Starting as low as 170C can make a diference in some of the 'brighter' terpene profiles like some of our favourite lemon strains

Empty after every use

When you have finished your dosage it can be tempting to put the device down, back in your bag or in a cupboard and empty it once it's cooled down. 

The problem with this is that once the oils have cooled, they become rock hard! So it can be difficult to clean out afterwards and will lead to a build up that can permenantly mark you chamber. A quick brush down of your chamber when still hot makes swift work and saves you cleaning as often! 

Don't get caught short! 

Even with the latest and greatest vaporiser, with regular use, the battery life will suffer. 

I'm currently healthily into year 3 with my daily Mighty  it has last incredibly well and never let me down. However where as I may have got 6-8 sessions out of a battery, I now only get 3-4. 

Despite this, the vape works brilliantly still, and thats why i'm personally a fan of Storz and Bickel as the build quality is unmatched and they simply last. The thing is with battery life, this can easily be extended when out and about using the right kind of power bank. So don't get caught short, or waste money upgrading early when you can have all day battery life for as little as £40!

Let's be honest, it's no help just fan boying over a product from a reputable brand and a price tag that demands top quality. Clearly we should be able to expect it to be a great device at this price point, but how does it really sit when compared to todays popular offerings? 

From being a medical cannabis patient, and experience in our own high street store we know what it takes to have a decent quality dry herb vape that is going to do the job. 

I would say that these days custom DYNAVAP setups alongside a Mighty or PAX seem to be amongst the most popular daily drivers for the medical patients we talk to. These all have their own ups and downs in terms of quality, price and over all experience. 

The PAX is a great middle weight dry herb vape with a price tag that is more manageable for most without cheaping out and going for a less reputable brand. These devices are great and fit comfortably in most pockets and bags! This is certainly a big advantage over the Venty which is a large device! 

The Dynavap is a beast for those heavy hitting fast sessions so will undoutably compete with the Venty in this department, however not having to mess around with a seperate heat source is certainly a major plus in the Ventys arsenal! 

Lastly the Mighty/ Crafty, these two kick ass and so they should for their respective price points! Tried and tested over time and just as popular now as when they first came out. The Venty certainly directly competes with these, but with the price point being over £100 more in many cases, it is a hard price difference to justify.

No matter which way you look at it, all the devices mentioned here are amazing and deliver top quality results in their own ways. Which is what has made me realise where the Venty actually sits in this industry. 

The Venty is an investment, and as such it is for the dry herb vaporiser user who value the added value here. If you are needing heavier hits, more regular dosing, or cooler flow on the go, then that extra £100 is a no brainer IF you can afford it, but for many it simply won't be worth the compromise when you can pick up a Mighty and Crafty just as easly.
