Meet the reviewer
Rowan is one of the founders of Infinity CBD and Pembrokeshire CBD Centre. Having worked in the CBD/ Cannabis industry for over five years, he has extensive knowledge of the supply chain issues, compliance and other fun things you have to contend with from the corporate side of this. However, having also been a patient for 3+ years he has also had experience first hand of the ups and downs of the patient experience, quality woes and what to generally expect.
These medical cannabis reviews are presented to try and form a balanced and honest opinion relating to his experience and understanding of the limitations the clinics/ pharmacies and producers face with trying to navigate compliance standards that compete with perceived quality of some products.
Everyone is different, and Rowan is prescribed for specific conditions and is provided these prescription legally by a Dr who has been working alongside him to find the best treatments. This means that any perceived benefits expressed in his article are purely anecdotal and related to his experience and may not reflect yours and certainly in no way mean to boast any medical claims about the use of these treatments outside of what he has personally experienced.
“Medical cannabis has given me back control and vast improvement in terms of my quality of life day to day. Although I still struggle with my symptoms, this has enabled me to still be present and functional on the worse days, and given the peace of mind that knowings it's there if I need it on the better ones.”

Adven Pastilles 10mg THC Gummies Medical Cannabis Review UK
Introduction
We have something new this time round! On my CBPM journey there have been two types of products types i've used, Oils and Flower (FLOS). So this is the first step outside of these formats with these Adven THC Pastilles.
It's a great thing to see that more options like this are becoming available as it's popular method of ease of consumption. This is usually due to improved taste, and consistency of dosing without having to do any measuring. Having said that, with a hefty price point (even with a recent price drop) these won't be for everyone, particularly with those with higher tolerances.
So with my experience relative to CBD Gummies, and experience trying legal THC gummies from US dispensaries I jump in to break down the ins and outs of these new Adven Pastilles.
As always, if anyone has had this strain tested, or has sample COA that you think would be useful to attach here, please feel free to reach out and we’d be happy to showcase it here, along with any relevant reference back to you, and a cheeky gift card for our site as a thanks!
Adven Pastilles Main Review
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my review of the Adven Pastilles 10mg THC Gummies. These were sourced legally via prescription to myself with chronic pain being the primary condition this is used for. I hope my feedback here is useful for you to make an informed choice on future prescriptions, or to avoid it depending on your needs. I always welcome feedback in terms of other specific points I could cover in these reviews.
The way this product is being discussed is with relation to a chronic pain prescription, although this prescription has also been useful for gastro, and nausea symptoms that relate to my condition too.
It's important to note that this is the 10mg THC with 0mg CBD option of the passtiles. CBD plays a vital role in my prescription regime, I just use these CBD Oil Drops to optimise my THC/ CBD products as it is far more cost effective than prescribed CBD despite being to the same standards of control. So when using these pastilles I have been using them to maintain a baseline of THC in my system through the night, or when vaping isn't always a viable option and typically match this with these CBD Oil Drops. So per passtile that would be 2 single drops of CBD Oil to make 10mg CBD.

Initial observation upon opening
Unlike our usual reviews I won't be covering nug formation or terpene preservation for obvious reasons.
Impressions upon first openning is an old familiar smell from some sort of cough syrup/ medicine I had as a kid. A classic sweet orange smell with little to no note of your typical nutty/ hemp smell from the oil. The flavouring used is almost identical to the flat lucozade sport drinks so pretty unoffensive, not too sweet though you do get the slight after taste of the extract (distillate) used in these.
The tub is the classic white tubs that were previously used for flower, which in this instance makes sense as to note squish these little pastilles.
The pastilles themselves are a relative loose jelly/ gummy that tend to stick together lightly. I have seen posts of people coating theirs in corn starch/ sugar to prevent sticking, but i've never had a problem with getting them unstuck. Having said that, this may be more of an issue in warmer months as I write this in February. I can imagine these being in a bag on a hot day could cause some issues.
Over all my first impressions are that these are well made with consistency across the gummies, smell nice, and presented well. I do imagine a firmer 'set' on these would be beneficial in the warmer months though.
How do they compare to Adven THC Oil?
So the closest comparison for these would be the typical oils prescribed. Taking THC orally has different onset times, and effects than when vaping. So when taking 10mg of these vs 10mg of oil by swallowing directly, the effects should be similar. Though it is worth noting that if you hold oil under your tongue and allow it to absorb that way, it will have a quicker on set.
Another point of comparison is cost. When these were first released they were £90 for 30, with my batch they had been reduced to £70 for 30. These are much more expensive than the oil counterpart mg to mg due to the more complex manufacturing process and time efficiencies.
In my opinion these are still priced quite high and as such won't be for everyone yet, however I can appreciate the pros outweighing the costs for some. Firstly, no mare measuring with syringes! If your eye sight or motorcontrol isn't the best, then these are ideal! You know precisely how much each one is, so can easily get your desired dose with minimal effort.
THC Oil is more cost effective and has other benefits vs these Adven Pastilles such as being vegan (something these pastilles could probably do with considering), however as we know, the taste isnt for everyone let alone the oily texture. So another pro vs THC oil is the orange flavour does a great job at masking most of this.

Context: I’m prescribed for chronic pain, that is accompanied by nausea/ gastro issues. I work full time and have a young family. As such, I have to find the balance between managing pain/ symptoms, and being functional in my various responsibilities. For me these pastilles are to support a more consistent quality of sleep or as a baseline on days where vaping isn't always an option. This enables me to then use my dry herb vaporiser to top up as and when I need it.
I have found the effects with these set on inline with your average edible at anywhere between 30-60 minutes. 10mg for me personally is a relatively low dose, however it's a great baseline for me and no longer having to carry around a syringe with my bottle is a huge plus in my eyes.
Effects wear off or become less noticable for me during daytime use at around the 4-5 hour mark, having said that, at nigh I have found it's helped keep me asleep for longer than this on better days.

Quick Bits about Adven Pastilles
Visual appeal
At a glance these aren't offensive in any way, and this form doesn't scream 'cannabis' like flower does. So generally speaking out and about this is a much more descreet method of consumption for those of you who have anxiety surrounding it's use.
It's clear what these are with the THC warning on the front, yet at a glance they don't look out of place or draw attention to the person using them. Something which even I am grateful at times. Just because someone is in the wrong to be prejudice about medical cannabis use, doesn't mean that sometimes you just want a break from having to even worry about that.
So with a lot of our customers who are also medical cannabis patients, I can appreciate why the visual aspect of these would be a real pro.
Can you use these via sublingual absoprtion?
Though these aren't directed to be used as such, if you are used to the difference in onset from sublingual absorption, there's certainly no reason why you can't try this with these pastilles.
Due to the fact that the jelly on these pastilles is quite 'loose', it 'melts' quite easily in your mouth. So in theory by chewing it up and allowing it to liquifiy, you could then hold it under your tongue for faster absoprtion this way prior to swallowing after 60-90 seconds.
Batch No
For reference we include a batch number. As mentioned above, some strains have been found to vary over time, (Thankfully mostly for the better!) so we include the batch as a reference for anyone looking. We haven’t noticed any issues with this batch that need addressing.
Batch: ROK000325129
Throat issues/ allergies?:
Not everyone gets on with oils or edibles due to digestion issues. So as always it's worth keeping this in mind if it's your first time trying them.
I didn't experience any issues myself though it's worth noting a couple of times I have been caught out with the after taste catching the back of my throat. I don't mind it as i'm used to the flavour, though I can imagine it could be unpleasant for those who particularly dislike the flavour of hemp/ cannabis extracts. Even with this in mind the orange flavour makes it far better than a straight THC Oil.
Side effects/ issues?
I haven’t observed any, if you have any would like to add any info here to help others let us know! I imagine for many this would be a low risk products for side effects simply due to the potency involved here unless you foolishly took too much without building up slowly.
So overall I’d rate this a pretty safe product to try for those with all levels of tolerance.
It works wonderfully when used to balance things like I often do using a CBD Oil in conjunction with my typical THC regime as it makes things more cost effective.
Overall impression
In the past my tolerance seems to be relatively high for edibles. As an example, with my THC oil, I have found 50-100mg to be my ideal dosage for a bedtime dose, where as a more functional day time dose may be between 20-40mg. So when I was told to start off with these at a quarter of a passtile per dose and slowly build I was sure it would take me a while to find that sweet spot for me. However that didn't mean I was going to risk jumping ahead and ignoring the Dr's orders!
So for the first few days I built things up I didnt notice an onset or any difference. It wasn't until a week in that I had started to find that balance and consistency when dosing with these.
Since then I have dialed in my dosage and found them an incredible useful part of my regime that has grealy improved the qualit of my sleep health.
I do wish they were priced closer to what edibles typically can be sourced for elsewhere in the world, but for now simply having these available as an option is a great step in the right direction. With the recent price drop of £20, every little helps and I can only assume we'll see more cost effective options appear down the line.
For me personally as a pain patient, I would prefer to see strong options maybe in the 25mg - 50mg range per gummy, which I believe would make these much more cost effective when served in doses of 30.
Over all I am impresed with the consistency in form and great taste with these and will continue to use them as part of my routine. I use CBD Oil Drops orally every day and have done for over 5 years. So I have always had quite a distinct relationship with CBD’s role in balancing THC as I have dialled it in over the years. So being able to match these 10MG THC Pastilles with my CBD Oil has been a breeze and helped make them a little more cost effective.
All in all if the price is affordable, I would recommend trying these as an easy to use, consistently dosed edible option. They can be used for a range of conditions with the versatility in being able to halve and quarter them for those with lighter tolerances. I'm looking forward to seeing stronger options join the market as well as a better price point, but all in with the way things are currently they're a great product for the box that they tick!
Update - August 2024
I thought i'd write an update to this review having used them for a prolonged period of time an there have been some packaging changes.
Firstly these now come in a foil mylar bag and under Curaleaf branding but are the same as they've always been otherwise. I find this better as they fit in my laptop bag much better for traveling with the flat profile!
These have been consistent in every single batch i've had, with only one gummy a little squished once which in no way impacted it's medicinal value.
Having this option for the hospital stay when I had surgery was great as it meant that I could sustain a baselevel rather than needing to use my flower as well. All in all these are a very useful form of consumption. Though I don't use them regularly as i'm fine with a stronger oil and use flower primarily. Having this option if brilliant for traveling and other similar scenarios.
