How Much CBD Should I Vape?

How much CBD should I vape?

One of the most popular questions we get in our dispensary and via our website and for good reason. The world of CBD products and strengths can be confusing enough as it is even when you know the exact dose in a drop or tablet that you’re taking, but how do you quantify how much to vape?
Fear not, it’s actually super simple!
So unlike other popular methods of taking CBD, such as drops or edibles, vaping CBD is a lot more efficient in terms of absorption and bioavailability. This means that the effects are quick to set in so it’s quite easy to gauge your dose when you’re using it simply by how you feel after a couple of minutes of using it.

So you don’t need to measure an exact amount of drops into your vape tank/ mod and you don’t need to watch the level in your tank to see how much you vaped to work out dose as you go.
When starting with CBD vapes, beginners should begin with a low dosage to gauge their body's response, typically around 1-2 mg of CBD per dose. It's important to gradually increase the dosage only if needed, ensuring a comfortable and effective experience.
Due to their high bioavailability, or how quickly compounds are absorbed, vaping is a practical go-to choice for CBD users. There is a wide selection of devices including CBD vape pens and CBD vape kits. The pre-filled CBD vape pens come with a variety of flavour choices and hemp-based CBD vape oil or distillate that is typically infused with terpenes. They are frequently referred to as CBD disposables and are designed with portability and discretion in mind, so there is no need to worry about purchasing chargers or refilling them. Users looking for more sophisticated functionality and customisation with their CBD experience should consider CBD vape kits. Vape kits have replaceable batteries and can be filled with the CBD vape oil of your choice and tend to have the option to dial in temperatures or pre heat the carts. Before making a purchase, be careful to choose the right CBD oil to go with your device! So how to get started:
Assuming you’ve bought a premixed vapeable solution, this is how I’d suggest to gauge your dosage:

  1. Open the bottle up and fill your tank and let it sit for a minimum of 15-20 minutes to soak in properly. If you have a prefilled device you can skip this step.
  2. Take 2-3 drags as you get used to using it and the flavour of your chosen CBD Vape juice. You can do this by drawing the vapour into your mouth before proceeding to inhale into your lungs, or by inhaling directly into your lungs. We would suggest the first option whilst you get used to the strength and vapour production.
  3. Wait 5 minute before vaping more. After 5-10 minutes or so you’ll know whether you need more or not. Chances are that most of you at this point will need to use more, however, it’s always best to start off small! So repeat step 2 and step 3 until you find your balance and the dosage needed for you. Before you know it, you'll get a feel for what you need and can then use it as and when you need a top up.

It really is that simple with your dosage, you can build it up slowly and before the end of your first day, you’ll know how much you need each time to keep topped up!

What about if I bought a CBD Additive to use in my own juice?

Yep it’s still going to be pretty simple on how much you need, but it gets a bit more complicated when working out how much to add to your own juice. I’ll outline two different scenarios:

Scenario 1:
You already vape nicotine but you want to add CBD to that juice to keep topped up throughout the day.

Ok so with scenario 1, you will want to be more measured with your CBD dosage, as you will likely be using the vape throughout the day for your nicotine fix, so you’ll likely want to add less CBD to your vape than scenario 2 where it would only be vaped for the CBD.

Example dosage:
Using: 10ml 500mg CBD Vape Additive:
So let’s say you vape short fills, 50ml bottles with a nicotine shot added to make it 60ml. What we recommend is adding 5 drops of the CBD Vape Additive to your tank and then topping up with your premixed nicotine juice and shaking well. This will vary depending on how many times you need to refill your tank a day. This dosage would make your entire tank 12.5mg roughly, so if you were to fill your tank twice a day that would make your full daily dosage 25mg which is pretty standard. By all means, you can increase/ decrease the number of drops to fit your needs, not everyone is the same! If you want any help working this out, feel free to email or drop us a message on social media and we’ll be happy to help!

Scenario 2:
You want to vape just CBD by adding your CBD Vape Additive to a nicotine-free vape juice. This is much more straight forward as you will only be using the vape for the CBD so it will come down to how much/ often you want to be physically vaping to get your desired dose.
Example dosage:
Using: 10ml 500mg CBD Vape Additive
If you have a vape with a 2ml tank, adding 10 drops and topping it up with your flavoured juice would make it 25mg. So if you vaped the whole tank over the course of a day you would have consumed 25mg of CBD. This is a pretty standard low/ mid-use scenario for someone using the vape all day.
If you want to vape slightly less in the day or need a stronger dose then you can add 20 drops to the tank and top up with flavoured juice to achieve a 50mg tank, which would require less vaping for the effects.
